DHS (01/25/17)

As we usually do on DISNEY DAY!, we left Greenville around 5 AM and headed south for a relatively quiet drive to Orlando. Since we got a fabulous deal that we couldn’t pass up, we found ourselves back at All Star Movies (we’ve been staying at Art of Animation for the past year, save for a brief stint at Pop!), which I think is plenty nice and accommodating, unless you are a party of four adults who constantly have to poop and who are now being forced to share one single bathroom.

Ya know. That whole thing.

Anyway, I digress & I digest.

We stayed over in the Toy Story building, which was unchartered terrain for us, and was absolutely precious. Did my fat, lazy ass ever give it all a good look? No. But I did snap these two photos in the rain while I lugged my suitcase to the car on the way out, so enjoy.

We decided to do a half park day and knock out Hollywood Studios. Upon Ciera & I’s gleeful recommendation, we decided to make dinner ressies at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, as we absolutely adored it the first time we visited the restaurant, back in 2013.

So, with a light agenda on the schedule, into the parks we traipsed!

Two things: One: I looked so good in my ToT bellhop hat that I impressed myself, until it became a flaming box of sweat and heat pasted to my head due to the hot Orlando sun, so I had to change into a pair of Minnie ears before I singed my eyebrows off with the steam from under my hat, and second, WE HAD A SHUTTLE TO OURSELVES TO AND FROM THE PARK THAT DAY. Ugh. Marvelous.

Don’t mind if I do, Mr. Mouse!

Always love this view.

You know it’s gonna be a good trip when the first fast pass is for Midway Mania! Ciera whooped my ass, but it was still the best.

Monkeyin’ around

We had a real quick interlude with “I AM MOAAAAAANAAAAAA!!” aka Moana, but Pua was nowhere in sight, so I was just absolutely disgusted. JK MoMo, you da best, but I need your pigpig around you at all times

Oddly enough, you meet Moana in the back of One Man’s Dream, so that meant I had to go snuffling and quiet crying past all of Walt’s sweet lil memories and concepts:

I would give my left nut for that man to really be standing there.

On to Tower of Terror (not pictured, due to hysterical screaming and out of body fear), and The Great Movie Ride!

Oh, Carrie.

Dinner time! This restaurant, in concept, is really rad. You are seated in actual cars with tables in them and you watch looping old horror-ish films and PSAs. Y’know. Like a drive-in. That whole thing.

I had my first steak EVER here (it was alright…but I really loved the veggies & the half a teaspoon of potatoes they gave us)

and basically to make a long story short, every single one of us got sick from eating there.  So …. remember when I mentioned that one toilet, four people thing? Yeah.

It was a long night.

Before the sci-fi buttstorm that took us all!

Our dinner reservations lasted through park close, so it was pretty neat to see one of the parks with no one it it. Except for the security dude who is clearly in that picture. Whatever. It was still cool.

Bonus story:

I bought a cupcake in the cafeteria when we got back, and later sat down on my bed, forgetting that it was there, and it bounced and landed icing down on the pallet Ciera made between the two beds, completely obliterating her pillow. It was funnier IRL than it seems now talking about it, but ya know, memories!

Next up: Magic Kingdom!

My head may be a mess some days, but my heart (typically) means pretty well.

  1. I’m always mesmerized by the pictures of Disney, from the food to the scenery to the decor. I definitely cannot wait to go myself! You make it seem even more magical than one would think possible! I need such magic!

  2. I feel like the greediest person alive because no matter how much time we spend at Disney, it’s never enough. Also, you were (no pun intended) smoking hot in that ToT bellhop hat.
P.S. The cupcake being jettisoned onto Ciera’s pillow was funny irl and now.
P.S.S. Love your photos. It’s always crazy to see what caught your eye to photograph when I was standing there with you and missed it.
